Long Walks on Siesta BeachSiesta Beach is a place like nowhere else on Earth. The gem of Siesta Key is a great place to spend a sunset. Come take a walk on the Gulf side!
It is about 3 miles from Siesta Beach Access #2 which starts at the broken pier near Siesta Key Village to Point of Rocks near Beach Access #12. Public parking is available in Siesta Key Village, but it is limited. You can always stay in Siesta Key Village as well.
There is a small parking lot at Beach Access #5 that is also a terrific place to start your walk on the beach. Beach Access #7 has a medium sized parking lot and is your best chance to park without doing so in the large public lots. Beach Access #8 has a small parking lot as well.
Siesta Beach has a large public parking lot as well as some street parking near Beach Access #11. This is your first stop for parking if you are coming from the south bridge.
Beach Access #12 has a small parking lot for compact cars only, but is usually full and not worth the turn around.
Start your walk from any of these parking options, from the place you are staying in Siesta Key Village or anywhere else on Siesta Key. Check the sunset time and try to get to the beach at least a half hour before the sun goes down. Once you hit the beach, it's time to head to the water!
Once you clear the paths take off your shoes or sandals and enjoy walking on some of the best sand in the world! Take your time to walk to towards the water and appreciate the calm, power and beauty of the lovely Siesta Beach.
Experience The Gulf of Mexico's waves crashing at your feet while you walk along the shore. Make sure you start walking towards the sunset with 15 minutes to go before the sun sets!
Stop and find your perfect spot on the beach just before the sun hits the horizon. Soak in the sunset and breathe in the fresh salty air of The Gulf. Then lay back and close your eyes or watch the colors of the sky change after the sun goes down. Witness the stars appear out of nowhere as you notice less and less people out on the beach with you.
Where the night goes from there is up to you! Parking overnight in the Village in public lots is allowed unless otherwise noted. Overnight parking is not allowed for beach parking, but parking does not close until midnight!
