The Siesta Key Beach ChallengeSiesta Beach is consistently ranked as one of the top beaches in the world. One reason is because of the sugar soft white sands that never get hot to the touch. This also makes it perfect for long beach walks or beach runs.
You have to also admire the amount of beautiful beach on Siesta Key. Siesta Key has nearly 5 miles of beach on the Gulf of Mexico alone! This allows you to find some space despite the popularity of Siesta Key!
If you enjoy exercise or just like long beach walks, feel free to take our Siesta Key Beach Challenge! Just make sure to bring plenty of water and a sweat towel!
This Siesta Key Beach Challenge will allow you to walk every inch of beach on Siesta Key and take in every breathtaking view.
The Siesta Key Beach Challenge:
Start your challenge with a warm-up on Shell Beach. This little known small strip of beach on northern Siesta Key is accessible via Shell Road (the northern one) by parking in one of 15 or so spaces, so arrive early!
Start your walk at the entrance at the end of Shell Road and walk west as far as the beach goes. When you reach signs at the end, turn around and head back to the entrance. You'll see Big Pass and Lido Key to the north!
Distance Walked: 500 Feet
Next head to Siesta Beach Access #2 near Siesta Key Village. It begins at the broken pier at the end of Avenida Messina. Head north around the corner until you reach the end of the beach. Turn around and head back towards the broken pier.
Distance Walked: 1,500 Feet
Once you get back to the broken pier, it is time for the long stretch! Start heading west and turn south at the curve. Follow the beach all the way to Point of Rocks!
Distance Walked: 18,000 Feet
Once you reach Point of Rocks, exit Beach Access #13 and wait to flag down the Siesta Key Breeze Free Trolley which will take you to Turtle Beach on south Siesta Key!
When you get to Turtle Beach, take the north beach path and head north. Once you go as far as you can go, turn around and head back south until you run out of beach near Fisherman's Cove!
